Michael Worton

Michael Worton is Emeritus Professor of Arts at UCL (University College London), having retired in October 2013 from being Vice-Provost of UCL and Fielden Professor of French Language and Literature. He has written extensively on modern literature and on art and gender theory. He also speaks throughout the world on education, internationalisation and global citizenship. He was a founding member of the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council, and is a member of the Board of the Programme of Artistic Research of the Austrian Research Council (FWF). He is a Commander of the British Empire (CBE), a Chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur, an Officier of the Ordre des Palmes Académiques, was awarded the Medal of Honoured Worker in Higher Education by the Republic of Kazakhstan, and was the first recipient of the British Academy President’s Medal. He has published 11 books and more than 80 articles and chapters in books.
